About us

Roshni Ghar means "house of light"

We were set up in 1994 as a direct answer to the needs of South Asian women accessing mental health services.

Roshni Ghar works with women to help them make an informed choice about services available to them and access to appropriate services.  We provide community-based peer and professional support.

Roshni Ghar recognises the importance of a holistic approach to mental health which respects and values an individuals's history, culture and beliefs as well as acknowledging issues which impact on mental wellbeing, such as social exclusion, poverty, unemployment, family, physical health and other inequalities.

We work in partnership with community, statutory and voluntary agencies to promote mental wellbeing and to create opportunities for women.  Our services are free due to funding from NHS Bradford & Airedale.

We are proud to be selected as one of the Lord Mayor's charities of 2012 - find out more about how you can support this appeal.
